I'm not talking primaries, I'm talking the actual election.

IF Paul runs as an idependent (I don't think he will) he could serve the purpose as the spoiler for the Republicans.. It's POSSIBLE that he could take away enough votes from the Republican candidate to ensure a Dem in the White House.

Whoever wins the DEM nomination would be wise to try to convince someone like Paul to do it.. maybe even finance it if they could find a backdoor method of doing it. I'm sure the Dem's are already thinking of a way to do it.
Ron Paul may be a politician but I'm not sure that he is that type of politician.

According to National Journal, that would be just about everyone else - it rated Obama as the most liberal Senator.
He probably is the most liberal remaining. Don't be mistaken Hillary is just as liberal she just lies about it. If she wins she will show her true colors.

As far as sincerity it's either McCain or Obama..

This might be one election where the VP slot is Very important... Cause when McCain snaps his cap and they declare him non compos mentis...

So what? You're still basing your "KNOW"ing on polls that can be wrong.

How do you know that the majority wasn't for Ross Perot, but so many were convinced that he'd never win that he ended up losing? It could have been a self-fulfilling prophecy. The only way to prevent that is for people to grow some balls and vote for the person they like best.

BTW, have you ever heard someone say, "I like Ron Paul, but he'll never win, so I'm going to vote for ______." I know I've heard it a lot. Just imagine if all those people actually voted for him. They could be the majority, but we'll never know because they are a bunch of gutless wonders.

McCain's choice for VP, should he win the primaries, is going to be an extremely important choice. If he picks a strong conservative he can get many of the right wing votes and with his views he will get many of the centrist votes...

That would give him a punchers chance against the democrats.

Somebody should show McCain the queen of diamonds and see what happens.

No, the ratings were of Congress, not the people running in the election.

It's called electability (sp?) and Ron Paul does not have it. So what happens is many people with pick the lesser of the remaining evils...

That kind of thinking occurs in every primary and it has an impact each and every time.

He could name...me as VP! I still wouldn't vote for him. Basing your vote on the VP is like picking your football team based on the second-string quarterback :dork:

I see you are not a mcCain fan but there are many others who will vote for him if he goes far right in the VP choice. Otherwise you vote for another who can't win or no vote at all and that just plays into the dems hands.

I was listening to some commentary last night, and they speculate Huck will be McCain's running mate. That might just win, but I think I'd have to just not vote if that happens. I can't support Huck being one heartbeat away from imposing his religious ideas on the nation.
There are protections against a president, or congress doing just that.

...so, the Perot movement, however disingenuous he was being, did spark a movement in this country away from the choices D's and R's gave us, right?

41 was not very good. 42 was a laughing stock. 43 is an unmitigated disaster for all of us.

I say vote FOR who you want and leave the rest to however it works out. That is the ONLY way we get away from what we've been being offered since 1988.
If you could teleport 41, 42 and 43 back to the early 1800's do you think they would be viewed the same? I think it is just part of the deal nowdays that whoever is elected will be disliked and maligned no matter what.

...question.

I can see 41 passing muster from the standpoint of being a rather accomplished person. Clinton would have succeeded in any age in politics.
W, well, I just see him not doing very well intellectually. He is not an entrepreneur. He's not a statesmen. He's not a learned person.

At least those are my thoughts.
