Wholly Guacamole!!!

For a pre-packaged glop, this stuff is pretty good! Nothing but natural ingredients, no preservatives, tastes good! If you don't have the energy to make your own, this is a great substitution, and you can always doctor it up with added cilantro and 'maters... Even costs less than buying the Haas avocados. Comes in a spicy flavor too.

And my new favorite chip to go with it...Xochitl (pronounced so cheel). Much thinner than most chips, crispy, seasoned with sea salt, really good. Again, no bad stuff in them, no preservatives, no gluten, no cholesterol, etc..... these are in Giant on one of the end caps facing the registers, so I hope it's not a special item that will go away.

It's definitely good as a quick substitute when you don't have the ingredients or time to make your own guacamole. And those chips are great - the first time we tried them we got them at BJs. They've been around for a little while so hopefully they're here to stay. Now you have me in the mood for Mexican food for dinner! :buddies:

Homemade chips from slicing small flour tortillas are the best with fresh, homemade guacamole. I go through a ton of avocados each week and always have a stash of guac on hand.

My simple, easy recipe:

4-5 avocados
salt (to taste)
1/2 red onion
1 stalk of cilantro
spray of lime juice

I do the same but add jalepenos

Actually the double ll is pronounced like a y as in yoyo, not silent.

Just don't want people to talk to ya like ya ignent.

Whaaat, no jalapeno? Do you bake your chips? I've always used corn tortillas and fried them :yum:

My lunch yesterday was an avocado halved. I sprinkled one with garlic salt and pepper. The other half I covered with salsa verde (Tomatillo salsa I buy at Food Lion) I sprinkled both with the juice of a fresh lemon.

If I had company, I would make a guac. Just me? I eat those suckers out of the shell they grew up in.

Tortilla and tomatilla are Spanish words (the illa on the end means "small") as said before, the ll in Spanish is pronounced like the y in yoyo. A single l is pronounced the same as English

Xochitl is a native Mexican word, as in Aztec.
