Why do Android apps suck so much

Just got a hold of an android to play with, downloaded a bunch of apps that sound like I might be interested in and every single one of them sucks.

Blackberry has far fewer apps but the ones they do have are much higher quality.

Am I just missing this secret stash of hidden apps somewhere. I will give kudos to the Kindle app, it works great.

Not interested in games, is that why I am underwhelmed by the apps?

Since the droid market is open,t here are a billion crappy apps floating around. I have found that the official company apps are generally pretty good (well known companies, that is) and I have found some good ones from online reviews. Plus, before I download an app on my phone, i always read the market reviews..epople will tell you if it is a battery drainer, asks for too many permissions, pushes ads, etc.

The app I want the most is a decent callendar/organizer type app and everything I found is difficult to navigate and fairly useless.
