Why Does the MSM Keep Falling for Obvious Hoaxes?

If there was a "national outrage" over the dubious incident, it was limited to gullible left-wing journalists, celebrities, politicians, and activists.

The "narrative" only seemed "cut-and-dry" to people who were looking at the case through lenses clouded by their anti-Trump bias. It seemed made up to those of us who noticed that Smollett's allegations were outlandish, implausible, and riddled with inconsistencies from the get-go.

Yet even as his story started falling apart (which happened almost immediately), the national media clung to their precious narrative.

There's been much commentary in the past few days about the MSM's lack of critical thinking skills in covering not only the Jussie Smollett "hate crime" fairy tale, but a number of other bogus stories as well.

Vrai says The short answer is: because they want to.
Bird dog says It fits their narrative and boosts ratings....
stgeorgesislander says They desperately want it to be true.

There you have it folks the question is answered.

Have you ever seen someone try to fit into a group they don't know anything about - and they look stupid trying?
A non-computer geek pretending to fit in; a non-jock trying to talk sports, but doesn't know anything;
a person trying to look trendy and hip, but unwittingly proving the opposite?

It looks funny on TV as comedy. Actually, it's used quite a lot, especially on kid's shows.

Go ahead - put on a MAGA hat and try and blend in with Trump supporters and conservatives.
They'll know you're faking in a cold second.

Because you don't KNOW anyone like that. You're relying on stupid-ass images and caricatures from
TV and leftie web sites. You look like Mulan trying to be "Ping". You look like the Wayans brothers
trying to be "White Chicks" or Rob Schneider being a guy in "The Hot Chick".

The reason it's found out as a hoax so fast is, it's so easy to see it's fake.
