Actually I'm surprised it wasn't done when they came out with the new paper money last time.
That is why they call it a handicap after all.LordStanley said:Why not just issue them debit cards?
If you force the treasury to change the currency, then you must force all businesses to change also. All menus should be done in brail. All bills/reciepts need to be change so the blind can read the cost and totals. I mean how would a blind peson know how much that shirt really costs?
this is complete BS. I am all for helping the handicap, but give me a freaken break

Put notches on one edge of the bills.Toxick said:I think that the law is that all federal programs must provide reasonable meaningful access to the disabled... or words to that effect.
Since the treasury is a federal institution, they must provide meaningful access to their wares for blindies. I don't think this is unreasonable - except that we just recently got all new currency.. and they'd have to change it again.
Or maybe they can just keep the same design, but use ink that's raised where the deniminations are indicated.

"It can no longer be successfully argued that a blind person has 'meaningful access' to currency if she cannot accurately identify paper money without assistance," Robertson wrote in his ruling.
