Just spoke to Dell, this wierd squeak I've been hearing on my 6 mo. old laptop is my hard drive going south! They told me to back up the entire computer and wait for the new hard drive to come and they would help me install it and then put all the software on it. :bigwhoop: I ask of you computer geeks out there, why oh why is this happening to a 6 mo. old machine? Any ideas?

As with anything, sometimes age does not matter. Consider yourself lucky you were able to save the data before it actually went full south.

It's mechanical. Anything that spins at least 7200 rpms is bound to break. I'm glad you were able to save your data though. :yay: :yay:

Because it's not a Mac.

Seriously, sorry that's happened to you. I hope you don't have that problem again!

good thing you were able to save all your data...I've heard a lot of stories about dell laptops going bad.

I have had mine for 2 years with absolutely no problems though.
