Seemed like a nice collection. I spotted Lugers, Colt 1860 Armys, Colt Single Action Armys, and of course the dozen Walthers.

Do the math... A million dollar collection of 200 guns... Each one worth $5K on average? Of course the police and media are describing the situation like an aresenal of dangerous weapons instead of a valuable collection of historic firearms.

Police confiscation seems heavy-handed. Still, the guy knew the rules. A good compromise may be criminal charges, yet allow the collector to keep the proceeds from a forced auction.

Remember that even though his felony history stems from a heinous act, it did not involve a weapons charge.
