Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence.

Do you have anything to prove that Mr. Washington ever said this? NRA, gun nutter sources don't count.

Funny how this quotes can never be found anywhere but on gun nutter sites.

Yes 2A is important...but not to the extreme people on here take it. You do NOT have the right to own any damn thing you please and every sale or transfer of weapons should be recorded.

To be fair to your point, there is nothing in the second amendment that implies recording is wrong. So long as the right to keep and bear arms is not infringed through delay or such, I would agree it is arguable that recording is allowed. I would not make that argument, but it is arguable.

I'm trying to figure out where the restrictions come in when you say I can't own anything I want? Given that we're not supposed to have a standing army (see article one, section eight, search for the clause on paying for a standing army vs. Navy), and that the people who wrote it overthrew a tyrannical government with a huge percentage of personally-owned arms in a militia, what arms that the government has do you believe they meant to restrict from citizen ownership?

Just a thought, but does this mean that the government can't restrict my right to operate a drone if I duct tape a handgun to it?

What would be the problem with that? If you duct tape it to the underside of your car, is there a problem?

Don't get your panties in a bunch, I didn't say there was a problem. I provided an admittedly absurd example of a legal principle I have actual questions about. If the government tries to completely restrict private use of UAVs/drones, could this be sidestepped by weaponizing them or outright buying actual military drones?

I have no panties, so they won't be bunched.

I agree it was an absurd example. I think there's only so much air space, and that when people own land they have a reasonable right to expect privacy on it. Having planes fly tens of thousands of feet overhead is one thing, but having your neighbor's drone 100 feet overhead is obviously something different. For this reason, I do believe state and local governments have a reasonable responsibility to exert some kind of control over when and where drones fly. Long before "drones" were RC airplanes, and those were generally restricted in terms of where they could fly. This does not seem an unreasonable restriction.

So, just by putting a weapon on it is not the same as keeping and bearing arms in terms of where you can fly it. I can see no reasonable argument to keep you from building such a thing, or flying it on your own property that is large enough to not impact other people, or to set up communal areas for such flying. Like I can see a reasonable restriction on bringing firearms into a visit with a convicted prisoner, I can see a reasonable restriction on flying a weaponized drone if that is the single reason for believing it can fly where otherwise it would be restricted.

From a strict interpretation you would be very wrong, unfortunately we've allowed the SC to build restrictions into it. As to the second part of the sentence, the fourth amendment would tend to say this is wrong as it presupposes guilt. The same SC addendum unfortunately applies.
