I just saw a story on CNN about the puppy trade from Tijuana into CA. It was disgusting.

The last dog I owned, I paid a $150 fee to his recuers. We gladly paid every penny of his vet bills until he died five years later. He was the best dog I have ever known.

I understand why people would buy a dog with papers, but why would anyone buy a dog without papers? It just doesn't make any sense to me. You can rescue just about any breed you want, why would you buy a dog that was probably bred in inhuman conditions?

Thanks for letting me rant...

Oh Crap! I've purchased puppies without papers. I always thought, papers were for stuckup snobs who hated mixed breeds.

Loved every dog I ever had....

I think he's talking about purchasing "purebred" dogs without papers.

Conspiracy??
 There are plenty of people that sell puppies and portray them as being "purebred", but they have no papers to prove it. That would lead me to believe that they aren't being responsible breeders, and that the puppies might have health problems. My puppy is indeed purebred, with papers, health checks, registered lineage, the whole nine yards. He captured my heart, I wanted him, I bought him.

Yes, you are correct. Sorry I wasn't clear.

I just hate mutts being a commodity while other mutts are being euthanised.

They have a half-decent documentary on dog concentration camps on HBO. It plays every now and again.

:frown: I saw a litter of Cane Corsos in the back of a pickup truck there a few weeks ago. What a shame..the mother was in awful shape and the puppies were very thin.

How hard would it be to forge doggy papers?? SOmeone could tell me that, go to WOrd, and print up so important looking doogy words, and how would I know the difference??

And if you were forging doggy papers, who would enforce, or punish me for it.. AKC Puppy Police??

We paid for our beagle but only $50.00. She is pure bred but doesn't have papers. We got her from friends and obviously they weren't trying to make a profit. They gave her shots and all too. We love her and I could care less if she has papers or not. I normally wouldn't pay for a dog but I got an email at the right time. :lmao If they had kept her she would never had been inside because all though they took great care of their dogs they did not allow them in the house. Ours is so spoiled that we often laugh they she couldn't have handled that life. She is queen of our house.

I have 4 mutts. All rescues.

I saw the CNN report on the Tijuana Puppy Trade, and the HBO show. (that was REALLY awful!) I just don't get people who treat animals like that.

I bought my beagle from there for $50.00 with no papers or shots or anything. She was in rough shape when we got her. Cost us a fortune to get her healthy again!

Lately I have noticed animal control there checking that there is water and all papers are legit....but sometimes some of the puppies look so sick! I'll stick to buying from a reputable breeder or rescue!

Really glad to hear animal control was there but was wondering what kind of papers people are supposed to have to sell their pups. A couple of weeks ago there were several people with litters and some of the pups couldn't have been older than 5 - 6 weeks old. When asked about their age, the person just shrugged and said they were 8 weeks old but there wasn't any way to prove it one way or the other. I wanted to call Animal Control but people were snatching them up so quickly they wouldn't have been there by the time they showed up! Pray that they weren't being used for bait! :bawl:

how should humans breed with dogs?

I wouldn't suggest missionary. They can clamp down on your nipples harder than would be considered pleasurable, theoretically speaking.
