What in the hell language is used to modify them?!?! Its not html its not bbc. Its not....anything! Who in the world created this masochistic language? """""The""""" is a hell of a lot harder than <b>The</b> or The.

Seriously though, any of yall work on wikis? I started one up for my personal site and am looking for a decent "Learn wiki's crappy language" tutorial.

I went through the process of registering at one point so that I could fix an error on SOMETHING, and just gave up because it was, like you said, a completely dumb language :lmao:

Haha, me too. I was reading up about Saved by the Bell on wikipedia and the description of Zack was "He ####ed Kelly. He ####ed Kelly." spammed a hundred times. Disgraced by the lack of respect for the wonderfully hot Ms. Kapowski I registered and attempted to edit it.

Screw that. I like started looking into it and got excited when I saw the beginning of a link in html...but it went downhil pretty fookin quick. somethign like

{a href="www.blah.com"|Blach sadhaishyah asdhagi """"""""""THE""""""" ==END===|}
{}=<>

No, no no no no no. I gave up quickly.

It makes perfect sense.

It's an _interpreted_ language.

They are all the same - just different syntax rules.

It is the wiki markup language. Which does, in fact, interpret to : It's not .... anything.

It's just a bunch of text that the server parses into HTML before it streams the text to a browser.

I played around with wiki a while back. It didn't seem that challenging. And I'm fairly certain that there are WYSIWYG editors specificially for designing wiki pages, so you don't have to go through the hassle of learning the markup syntax.

Thanks for the input. I've taken a look at it, and I'm beginning to get a grasp of the concept. Basically it makes it "easier" to link between pages on the wiki. I still wish that you -could- use basic html to get some of the simpler commands done.

Thanks all!
