My first car had a slant 6. A Dodge Valiant. What a great little car.

Buddy of mine had a 61 Valiant. Reminds me of celebrating a birthday, Friday July 18, 1969, we partied til the wee hours and 4 of us decided to go to Ocean City, left at 330am, got there at sun-up. We had drank all the beer but had a case of ginger ale(hot). Shortly after we got there, heard on the radio about Teddy Kennedy's little mishap and also discovered we had about 10 dollars between us all and an empty gas tank. Well, we stayed all day, filled the tank with gas and bought a loaf of bread..Bread and hot ginger ale (typical 96-100 degree day), what an amazing meal. We left OC about 9pm, got back to PG around midnight, think we got home with 4 dollars.. All I remember on the drive home was hearing "A Boy Named Sue" for the first time and dying laughing. Eventful weekend, moon landing was that Sunday. Friend had that car until the late 70s, had around 200k miles on it when he sold it for $50.

Our high school student parking lot (early-mid 70s) was full of fast cars. All but one were your typical muscle cars of the period. The one exception was a smallish Dodge sedan with a slant 6 225 that was built by the very skilled owner to be remarkably nasty on the drag strip. He embarrassed a lot the "big V8" guys.

I think the bent carrot commercial folks missed a great opportunity.

They should’ve advertised their medication as a cure for slant six.
