Windows 7 Home Security 2012

I had a window pop up saying that I am infected with some malware and trojans and I should purchase the security package.

I already have AcAfee, which hasn't picked anything up.

Strange thing is, when I click on the page to fill out for ordering the product, there is no address bar for me to see the www. address. I do not want to fill it out and include a cc # in case this is a spam item.

Ideas?

The one that I got was hell to get rid of. It was called Windows Antivirus 2011. I have since had several trojans that I think this opened the door for.

Yep, it opens the door alright - I have been cleaning friends computers as of late and educating them as well.

Microsoft Security Essentials does an excellent job of cleaning up residual crap from this, as well as keeping them protected. Plus, it's free.

I just don't bother trying to clean these up anymore. It's faster for me to re-image the customer's PC and restore their data rather than spend a couple of hours and hope I catch it all. And the benefit there is that they get the latest and greatest updates and patches in the process, and any other minor bugs they might have had go away.

Normally I do the same, but I know the process to kill and Registry Entries to delete... install MS Sec Essen. and let it fly. So far, so good.

Work computers, yes, I reimage them. :yay:
