Windows Vista blows...

Okay, so I got my first shot at Windows Vista, and it sucks. I'm trying to find what's so special about it. Thankfully, this isn't on my laptop.

So after my wonderful experience of installing it, which means burning several CDs onto a DVD and yada yada, the task of DRIVERS came up. I've got it on an IBM NetVista Pentium 4 2.6GHz 1GB RAM. Well, good ol' Intel's drivers aren't supported.

It took me overall, about three hours to install this. So, I'm looking for what's so spectacular. After I've got the drivers and it looks pretty, I go surfing through the features. Network features are no different from XP.

It's got all of nothing and it shows me no incredible reason to go put this on my home computer.

Networking sucks.

Novell support sucks (in beta).

Graphics suck.

It uses too much memory.

Too slow.

Shall I go on...

It's horrible, don't buy it.

Oh, it's Media Center :bigwhoop:

So, if you have a top of the line computer and TV Tuner that you want to slow down a great deal, go ahead and buy away.

I'm damn glad I didn't spend $150 on this POS.

I'm actually a little sad I let the free upgrade go by ONLY because it was FREE and it might be worth something later. Had to install it by March 31, 2007 and I plum forgot. I was going to try it and then do PC restore if I didnt like it. Oh well, now. :frown:

But, I will take your word for it. :flowers:

Dell is still selling with Vista however I found this at their site...

* Windows Vista has not been tested on all user configurations, and drivers may not be available for some hardware devices and software applications. Check www.support.dell.com for latest driver availability. Some OS features - like the Aero interface - are only available in premium editions of Window Vista and may require advanced hardware. Check www.windowsvista.com for details.

Common sense ain't common
I recently got a new computer (a no OS barebones from Tigerdirect, on which I loaded Ubuntu Linux) and took the old one, fixed it up with WinXP and some games, and sold it to my husband's friend. Trying to find an OEM version of WinXP to put on that old computer was a REAL pain in the ass. Got told by a Best Buy dude the following (I SWEAR I'm not making this up):
1) Vista's been beta tested for 5 yrs
2) XP has more bugs than Vista
3) MS is doing away with tech support for XP at the end of the year.

It took all I had to listen to this guy's lines with a straight face. (Just because I'm a woman doesn't mean I'm a complete ditz on the computer, guys) My husband's Sony Vaio has XP and we're not upgrading any time soon.

Andy,
You deserve a medal for test driving, and surviving the test drive of Vista..

I am OK with XP and do not see a need to change over to V for a couple of years..

Bravo Zulu!!! Job well done for testing and living to tell about it!!!

:killingme Wrong, Wrong, and :wench:Wrong

Microsoft extended support for XP until 2014 on the eve of the Vista launch , even before they extended it support was slated to last until 2009

I've been testing Vista since Summer 2005, as well as Linux Suse 10. I was expecting more from the final release - the first Release Candidate was far better and far more stable than the final release of Vista.

Did you tell him he's an effing moron.

I love going to Best Buy. I'll ask them questions about what socket processor this model's running and what kind of DDR RAM and all kinds of ####. They just look at you like you're speaking a foriegn language.
