I received two spam e-mails that made it through NMCI this week offering it to me. I'm not biting. Not that NMCI would let my anyway.

Vista's great IF your hardware supports it.

My software supplier has it. Too expensive for me to buy right now. I'm also waiting for Novell to support it which will be after March.

The major differences are the navigation format, the Users folder is under C: and the desktop preferences are completely different.

If you go to Microsoft you can get a Beta release. I signed up for a Beta copy but haven't received it yet.

Yeah I think its just a trial version of it, and by the time they send it to me they will have the full version released. So I will just sit on my hands and wait

You can DL the beta version and burn the iso files to DVD...i put it on my desktop. Its completely different from XP...it takes some getting used to. But overall I must say I enjoy it. But I wouldn't take it and put it on a primary computer unless you are for sure its compatible, and as always backup all your important files.

I've been running the beta version for several months. I had Beta 3 on it since July and then put RC1 in September. Overall, I like it.

Only flaw is that my ASUStek Mercer TV-FM Tuner card isn't compatible with Media Center. :tantrum

I'll probably buy an ATI TV Tuner and sell the two I have now.

You'll want to have a big hard drive because Vista is FAT. I would reccomend putting it on a 40GB and running a dynamic 250GB as a secondary - either that or running 2 250GB. WMP11 is pretty good about picking up music so I'd put multimedia and images on a secondary hard drive.

I would also reccomend maxing out on RAM. You CAN put this on a late-Pentium 3 but I would make sure your motherboard can allow more than 512MB RAM (Most before 2001 do not). Get the latest BIOS flash and max out on RAM. If you're running anything below 1.8 GHz, have 2 GB RAM hooked up.
