windshield 'repair'

I had a rock hit my windshield Saturday and I called to get it fixed before it spread. So, they come out today to "fix" it but it doesn't look any different to me. I thought that when they did these repairs you hardly saw any chip at all. Did I delude myself?

NO I perform these repairs at the dealership i work at as a mechanic. They look much better but often you can still see the evidence. A lot of times the damage is on the back or inside the car part of the glass. The repairs done outside, and it should prevent spreading of the crack or damage.

I have $0 deductible on glass

when that happens to me I just push on the chip till the crack runs beyond what they can fix then call the insurance company.

I get the new window.

plus I like the smell of the window sealent that is left behind in the car. Smells new again for a few weeks.

Who are you with insurancewise? I have a $500 deductible apaprently.

Wow. You sure that's not just for accidents? My deductible for glass is $100. Neighbor was mowing his yard, we guess a rock flew from under his riding lawnmower and completely shattered my back glass on my suv. Without coverage it would have cost almost $900 to replace. He paid my deductible.

Hmm, they said my deductible was $500, which I thought sounded crazy for windshield repair, maybe I should call and double check.

Double checked. $500. Grrrr

You know, it doesn't matter who you have your insurance with. When you set up the policy, you can get whatever deductible you are comfortable with. Of course, the lower your deductible is the higher your premium will be. I'm with State Farm and have always set my deductible for glass at $0.

Yeah, I was dicussing the deductible with them yesterday and after being transferred three times and after some stating the obvious, I still couldn't get the answer to "How much will that raise my monthly premiums?" Is what it is, I guess
