Winzip

It pizzes me off no end that I have to pay 30 bucks for a program that I might use once every couple of years or so. Anybody know where I can get a free winzip, or something that will open zip files?

Win7 has it built in. Right-click on a file or folder, Sent To/Compressed File.

I have Win 7 home edition (64 bit), but apparently, that built in is an evaluation copy. Won't let me do anything unless I pay for it. That's okay, the 7-zip also handles unix/linux. Or is supposed to. I'm playing around with puppylinux, so I'll find out.

Peazip is another freebie: http://www.peazip.org/

And if you need a good FTP Client: http://filezilla-project.org/

Huh, are they finally trying to make people pay for their evaluation copies?

If you uninstall the winzip you currently have it should default back to letting Windows handle all of the zip files.
