Wireless Cable

I've been looking on the Internet for a means of broadcasting cable output from DirecTV across the house or alternatively, across the room so that I won't have to thread cable around. The idea is, why thread a cable under the carpet or over the ceiling when I can just broadcast the signal?

Has anyone experience with this? Most of the manufacturers of such stuff seem a little lame, but maybe I've been looking at the wrong ones.

There are a number of devices that can broadcast the baseband ie, single channel, information. You select a channel and it's broadcast to a receiver in another location. You cannot tune to a different channel except changing the input channel at the transmitter.

To transmit broadband, ie all channels at the same time allowing you to tune which channel you want at the end TV, requires far too much bandwidth under the frequencies allowed for home use.

There is a device you might look at called a SlingBox. BestBuy has them in stock (not that I'd ever advocate buying anything there...).
