Anyone here have a non-commercial setup at home? Looking for something that I can view from work and on my iPhone. I have a Linksys wireless router.

I'm interested in this as well. Not so much for the wireless, but definitely motion detection and IR. Gotta see what the hell all these kids are doing when the rest of the world is sleeping.

I would go wired if you can. I went wireless and had trouble with them because of metal studs in the walls. The other trouble is how to get electric to the wireless. The came with a battery adapter for a 9 volt but that lasted about 8 hrs. Maybe a wild game camera but you would not be able to view it on over the internet

If you have an old PC or laptop and a cheap camera, you can use this:
Expression Encoder 4 Overview | Microsoft® Expression®
to stream your video to the web. You can select the frame rate so as not to overload the network.

You'll probably have to configure your router to allow a static IP address to be on the 'outside' of you router so it can be seen by the web, usually referred to as 'port forwarding'.

I have one of these:

Panasonic BL-C131A Network camera - pan / tilt

Works great... easy to set up.... it has a built-in webserver and can stream video out; you'll have to open a port on your router to access it. Or, you can set up an account on some free (I think) service Panasonic has to that allows you to view a still every minute or so.
