anyone have any suggestions on a wireless broadband provider for a laptop... or are you able to get a connection here without a paying for a provider?

I was able to get a signal in Park Hall. It all depends if someone else nearby has a wireless router. I was able to steal a signal for a few months. I got down here and could do it for a few months too. But, then I got a package deal with the cable company for net and phone.daisycreek said:

I have the Verizon Wireless broadband card, it is a little pricey but I get high speed connections that are always on anywhere and everywhere. When I was on vacation in multiple states I never had a problem.

Sounds good..I too will look into that..I travel and rely on hot spots....not always there and not always secure.

I actually got my broadband card for free, I went in during the mail in rebate offer. But I can second the price above. It's 80 dollars without a Verizon contract already and 60 dollars if you have an existing contract. All together with my two line family plan and unlimited access broadband connection it's roughly 170 dollars a month, and that includes a small texting package and insurance on each phone and the broadband card.

I actually bought a cheap P3 with bluetooth. If you have a bluetooth laptop, partner your cell phone and laptop and get some sort of dial up (ask for dial-up VPN from your work if they offer it) and use your mobile phone as a modem.
