From the "Features" tab on the web page...

An affordable Nikkor that combines the ease of autofocus operation with advanced Nikon optics. Ideal for scenery or full-length portraits.

Through a 50mm lens subjects viewed with the camera appear about the same size as when viewed with the human eye, which is one of the reasons why 50mm lenses are called normal.

I just did a search on Ritz's site and that one came up. Hope it does what you want it to!! I'm a "point and shooter" with my Nikon L15, so I don't know lenses.

Ritz is usually not the cheapest IMO. The 50mm is a great all around prime lens you can use for shooting anything, provided you can get close enough for the composition you're trying to acheive. I have the 50mm F/1.4 and have shot "macro" images using close-up filters attached to the lens. You can also use the 50mm mounted in reverse using a Nikon BR-2a reversing ring, which will allow you take macro photos that are larger than life sized.

Id be leary of Quantaray lenses, the cheap price is fairly indicitave of cheap materials and cheap build quality. Id also be leary of adjustable focal length lenses such as this one that claim to be a macro lens. True macro lenses are usually fixed focal length, thus this lens does not acheive true macro in that it cannot focus at a 1:1 ratio (lifesize).

I would also suggest checking out Digital cameras, all other cameras and everything photographic from Adorama Camera , B&H Photo Video | Digital Cameras, Camcorders , and Penn Camera

Most likely if I don't like it I will return it. I am extremely picky when it comes to electronic's. I just didn't have the actual Nikon budget right now.

The 50mm 1.8 is my FAVORITE LENS! Its cheap, small and awesome!!!

Its a fixed lens and so fun to play around with. I'd recommend it. What did you want to shoot?

I use that lens for portraits, seniors, weddings, fine art, EVERYTHING LOL.

I must be missing something. How is a minimum focus distance of 37 inches a macro?

I have the "cheap" :)lmao:) Nikon D40

Still a good camera.....was just curious since the (cheap) 50mm would be manual focus on the D40, but I believe they (nikon) came out with a new model that has the internal AF mechanism. Heck, if you ever want to try one out, we can meet up and you can try mine.

Trying is about all I will ever get to do, those things are freakin expensive! I knew when I bought the camera I was never going to have the lenses I wanted for it. But at least I got the camera.

Oh and thanks that would be nice, but then I would just want the lens and I wouldn't be able to get it! :lmao:

Keep an eye out for used lenses. Even lenses that are worn, scratched and stuff work good. Look on cragslist.com and KEH.com

You might just find something
