ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) -- A 92-year-old woman was shot to death Tuesday after she fired at three narcotics officers trying to serve a warrant at her house, officials said.

Neighbors and relatives said it must have been a case of mistaken identity. Police said they had the right address.

Police said the woman, identified as Kathryn Johnson, was the only person home at the time, and had lived there for about 17 years.

As the plainclothes Atlanta police officers approached the house about 7 p.m., a woman inside started shooting, striking each of them, said Officer Joe Cobb, a police spokesman.

Damn. That's all I can say.
"My aunt was in good health. I'm sure she panicked when they kicked that door down," Dozier said. "There was no reason they had to go in there and shoot her down like a dog.".
lol, I love it.........even though she blasted them.......they had no right to treat her that way.

"One was hit in the arm, another in a thigh and the third in a shoulder. The officers were taken to a hospital for treatment, and all three were conscious and alert, police said.".
Thats pretty damn impressive shooting for a 92 year old lady!

I think there is more to this story than what is being reported......
My first guess is that grandma has drug dealing relatives living with her.

Ed Zachary!! And the cops announced themselves when they storm a house.

Assistant Chief Alan Dreher said the officers had a legal warrant and "knocked and announced" before they forced open the door.

Lets say she was truely startled...... she's just sitting there with a loaded gun in her hands??? Yea right!! :killingme

After she shoots the first cop, I guess her aging eyesight failed to notice the next 2 she shot were also cops..... :duh:

She got what she deserved!! Die granny die!!! :killingme

That would be my guess, that they were using grandmas house to sell drugs out of thinking it would be less suspicious.

So they had a warrant, they most likely had cause to believe something illegal was going on in that particular house and they may have announced themselves before they started breaking down the door. Atlanta is a pretty dangerous city and I doubt this was in a nice neighborhood. Also it was dark. The little old lady may have thought it was thugs and defended her home the way we should be able to. She may have even been hard of hearing. How hard would it have been to watch the house for a couple hours to figure out who was actually inside and then approach in a manner appropriate for the situation. Had they done this instead of the too often used Gestapo tactics there would be a few more healthy cops and a little old lady still alive.
Not smart guys!

I agree, and if you also noted in the article that they were NOT uniformed police officers but undercover cops. I've seen entries where the cops either don't announce very loudly or not at all that they are police. I expect she thought it was a home invasion and was defending herself.
She either needed more range time or a more powerful gun.

So as soon as a civil rights leader is mentioned its that part of town. What are you getting at?
Civil rights leaders hate white people and never get involved when a white person is having a problem. I should file a class-action discrimination lawsuit.

NOT Politically Correct!!
Tons of little old ladies die in prison, just because someone is old doesn't mean their not a criminal... :coffee:

I'd wait for more facts...

But he said, " That part of town." Is he saying all black people live in the same area. It could of been a black woman in a nice part of town. Assumptions show true colors.

I think 94 is a little too old to be brandishing a weapon.

No, I disagree. She more than anyone needs a weapon. How else can someone that old defend themselves from an attacker?
I say good for her that she was willing to stand up to thugs. Too bad the cops didn't initiate this with some intelligent fore thought, maybe there would be one less dead old lady and 3 less injured officers.
