Woodworking Class

You have access to the base?

They closed that part of the hobby shop on the base up my way years ago. That was too bad, too. Lack of profitability (who'd guess that, right?). Do they still have one down at Pax? I thought it was a great program, it just had too few participants. :ohwell:

PAX still has an active woodworking shop, but they have cut days/hours due to $$$ issues. Not sure if the woodworking class got cut or not. I'll ask tomorrow.

:yeahthat: Haven't been to the base shop much except to buy wood and use their large planer. I have a shop at the house, but only a portable planer and it's a PITA to plane a lot of board ft on that thing.

:yeahthat: I go to a friends house when I have to plane a lot of wood too. My DeWalt is only good for smaller amounts of boards and I stopped planning oak and locust on it to keep the blades sharper longer. I took the course on the PAX base many years ago. I really didn't learn anything I didn't know before but got to drool on their very nice equipment and wish that it was in my shop. When I had to plane the wood for the floor in my 34 X 24 foot family room, my kids were going to Spring Ridge and the shop teacher let me use their planner and helped feed the boards. I sure wish I could of bought that planner from them when they stopped the wood working classes there. I wonder who got it.
