Power with Control
And by extension, fuel lines 99 Blazer blew the long brake line few weeks back, it's evidently a weak point, right where its clipped to the frame by the drivers side rear wheel. Surprise, you cant buy them suckers premade. Talked to Wiengartner, up in Ltown. Guy tells me they just fabricate them from scratch. They dont follow stock routing, since that requires dropping the fuel tank, which makes it almost a sure bet you'll bust a fuel line, or trash the fuel pump, which is $600 for the part.
I knew from my research that brake line was cheap, $11 for a 25 foot roll, and about $70 in tools, tubing cutter, line bender, and double flaring tool. Since I'll need these skills for the Cougar someday, seemd like the time to learn. Finished bleeding the system just now, tight as a drum, all four flares are tight. Four flares becuase I had to make the line in two pieces, with a union in the middle.
I'm pretty happy. Not so much for the cost savings, they had said $260 labor just to fabricate the line, but its always cool to teach yourself a new thing.
