At 7209 Benedict Ave, I believe it's a church. Anyone with any updates? Just called Mechanicsville for the engine and tanker.

Yikes, that would be St. Francis DeSales Catholic church.

There have been a lot of sirens going by, I guess that's where they're headed. I hope it's not too bad!

Well, if it gives you some indication, St. Mary's County E-21 just arrived on scene. So, there's something to it.

And yes, that was the name of the church. Thanks.

Apparatus from 4 counties on Rt 231 is a norm. You usually get Hughesville, Benedict, Mechanicsville, Baden and Prince Frederick. Depending on the call, whether it is a sturcture fire or not. Most structures in that area get 3 engines, a truck, squad and several tankers. All the departments mentioned above have that equipment. Charles County does not dispatch more than one unit from any department with the exception of tankers for manning purposes. For example, a house fire on Rt 231 near Rt 381 you would get an engine from Hughesville, Benedict and Baden, the truck from Prince Frederick and possibly the squad from Mechanicsville. Tankers would be from Benedict, and Mechanicsville. For commercial buildings you would get more equipment I believe it would be 4 engines, 2 trucks and 3 or 4 tankers.

I know its a norm, for the 4 counties to run that area, but its quite rare that there is ever a fire in that area that requires so many different departments, Dunkirk and Brandywine running to 231 in Charles is very rare.
The fire was in the basement of the chruch and burned through the floor under the alter. Fox5 ran the story with shots from the air on the 10 o'clock news.
