Working house fire - Hermanville

Jeff

Stop Staring!!!!!
2:47 AM Fire board dispatched for a working house fire on Columbia St. in Hermanville. Cross Street of Long Lane.

21570 Columbia St. St. mary's - Google Maps

2:52 First units on the scene advise fire through the roof. Not long after a 2nd alarm was sounded for more Fire units. The neighbor who originally called 'thinks' the house is empty of the occupants.

Incoming units advised to stage on America St. Several trucks have taken up the Fire Hydrants.

Calvert units are being requested on the BOX as well. Fire Marshall has been called and is apparently on the way.

3:20 Medical has been summoned in front of one of the trucks. Unsure if any occupants or firefighters were injured. Command advises Fire Board that at this time they plan to go offensive with the fire.

3:24 Medical advises command a 2nd Ambulance is needed now. They will have a 2nd person to transport. Again I do not know if these are Occupants or Fire Fighters. 2nd Ambulance was already staged and is moving up. It sounds like they have a large number of Fire Trucks on the scene now and are using manpower off of the reserve trucks already.

3:31 Ops advises fire has been knocked. Fire under control. Confirms a Fire Marshall is on the way as they suspect fire started as a result of a lightening strike on a tree adjacent to the home.
I am probably sitting not much more than a mile away form this scene and I have not heard any lightening strikes / thunder in the area.

3:37 Command advises Fire Board that 80% of the Primary search is completed. The remaining 20% is not accessible yet.

3:52 Police now out with what I think is the owner and an associate. One of them is reporting that they accidentally set the house on fire. Police want them taken back to the scene in individual police cars. Another unit is on the way to transport the 2nd person. One officer advises use of caution with one of the subjects as he apparently is familiar with them. I guess this was not started as a result of lightening after all. Wonder why they left the scene in the first place? Bad stuff there 'if' people were indeed injured as a result of this fire.

3:59 Medical advises command that Utility 39's patient will not be transported. Police now advising both individuals are now being transported back to the scene. Some fire units on the scene are advised they can now start picking up hose.

4:06 Police arriving on scene with individuals of interest.

4:20 Sounds like Fire Units are beginning to wrap it up. As there are apparently a couple people injured and an invesitgation seems likely I think I'll stop there.

Wonder why?--it rained earlier  lol. I believe they called for 3, 7 (there were more I can't remember they were cutting in and out on each other and beeping and bleeping) and a tanker and asking about number of crew members or something...nothing new yet. I heard the siren first and jumped up out of bed (had just laid down) so I missed the beginning of the scanner chatter...

You slacker :killingmeHow dare you try to sleep.

You must be reading my 2 1/2 year-olds mind!:killingme I don't work the night shift or anything, so there's no reason for me to be up until 2 am, but he doesn't think so--he thinks it's party time :yahoo: :dude: from 8 when I try to put him to sleep until 2 when we both collapse from delirium!
So now I'm gonna :snooze:for 3 to 5 hrs. before I :coffee: I'll check for updates in the am, since you're up working. It's been dead silent since the first call, so...

Well I guess the folks up your way should thank your 2 1/2 year-old for keeping you up so you can keep an ear on things while they sleep:killingme:

Interesting, sounds suspicious. It was a known crack house that the "owner" had been ordered to stay away from, yet she was there when the fire started. Sounds like this fire may have been a blessing in disguise for the neighborhood.

That doesn't surprise me in the least. After all, how many crackheads have a clean record? Hell, ya gotta love someone who allows "her house" to be used as a crack house! :loser:

I guess the scum will have to congregate for their crackfests elsewhere now.

Yeah, okay.

I think this is the same person whose husband went "missing" a couple of years ago and has never been found.

I heard Lisa Marie Tippet's name on the scanner 3 or 4 times a week.

That's really pathetic when you don't even know a person, yet you recognize their name from a scanner. That certainly says a lot about her!
