Would Democratic Socialism Really Threaten Minorities?

The short answer is no Adora Svitak of Berkley, California summed it up in 2 paragraphs. It reads in part

“More importantly, he seems not to realize that other options besides buying things exist. He presents a false dichotomy between dystopian majority control and “free” markets. But there are real historic and present possibilities for the production of goods and services for reasons other than the profit motive, from egalitarian community “time banking” to Wikipedia’s open community of editors to groups like the Four Thieves Collective that make their own medicines in resistance to Big Pharma. These aren’t market solutions. Indeed, they will continue to thrive—and, quite likely, thrive better—in a society with a strong social safety net for all its citizens.”

Like the state-run factories in the USSR and China?

Asians are a minority in the US. Their children thrive in the education environment, constantly scoring better is tests than all other groups, including Caucasians. As a group, Asians are involved in perpetrating less crime than other groups. Adult Asians are highly educated and earn well above the average wage.

If Caucasian Americans, and the American system is racist/bigoted/bias/slanted/rigged/etc., how do you explain the Asian outliers? I think that the Asian culture and the things that are important to them, help them to achieve greatness in this country.

And they often put out a mean buffet down at the local restaurant.

Democratic socialism = joke. Not to mention that The USA is a republic. Not to mention the Democrats founded the KKK. Not to mention that Bernie Sanders, Liz Warren, Pelosi, Schumer, Hill And Bill, Barry, et al are power hungry, controlling lunatics. Vote smart, y’all, and God bless America. :patriot:

When people like me work our asses off to make ends meet all stop working because we're sicking of giving half our money to people who won't work, to pay others college tuition while we can't afford to send our own kids to college, pay to put food on others tables, when we're lucky if we can include meat with our meals, when we can no longer afford to put clothes on our kids backs, while some welfare princess gets her hair did once a week and her nails decorated every two weeks...the money will dry up. People like me will stop working, because it won't be worth it. The much maligned big corporations...they'll just close the doors. The owners, presidents, ceo's, will take their money and retire to their tropical paradise, and drink cocktails with umbrella's on the beach. They'll still have steak and lobster for dinner, as they no longer pay taxes to support "democratic socialism". When your fantasy world comes tumbling down around your ears, like Venezuela, where will you get your free stuff, then?

Pretty sure anyone in the United States who wants Socialism in any form is severely retarded or one laxy sumbitch who plans on being one of the ones accepting it and not one of those who has to work to pay for it.

Freaking colleges are destroying our countries youth with this brainwashing BS.

Democratic socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically—to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. To achieve a more just society, many structures of our government and economy must be radically transformed through greater economic and social democracy so that ordinary Americans can participate in the many decisions that affect our lives.

Democracy and socialism go hand in hand. All over the world, wherever the idea of democracy has taken root, the vision of socialism has taken root as well—everywhere but in the United States. Because of this, many false ideas about socialism have developed in the US.

Ocasio-Cortez raises eyebrows after citing national park as example of Democratic socialism

The overnight Democratic superstar, who rose out of obscurity after beating Rep. Joe Crowley, D-NY, in June’s primary, has been widely mocked for a number of gaffes and misstatements she has made on a subsequent media and campaign tour.

That mockery looked set to continue this week after she took a leisurely stroll through Maine’s Acadia National Park, and declared it -- along with other benign Sunday stops -- an example of democratic socialism.

She cited not only her visit to the park, but also eating a breakfast sandwich at a cafe co-op, and “supporting worker-owned businesses.” She also added as a “bonus” that she spotted a Planned Parenthood branch “helping people, per usual.”

She posted a number of accompanying pictures -- including her relaxing under a bridge, and another of her smiling outside the aforementioned Planned Parenthood center.

But while worker-owned businesses may have a ring of “Workers of the World, Unite!” to them, Ocasio-Cortez took heat for what critics described as the common mistake of equating some things government-run to socialism.

“The National Park System is not socialism in action: It is a mix of public goods, like monuments, and government maintenance of park land, which is not an interruption of private economic activity or a usurpation of private property rights,” The Weekly Standard’s Chris Deaton wrote in a column.

Looks to me like Democratic Socialism threatens just about everybody....

https://nypost.com/2018/08/23/venezuelas-nightmare-is-spreading-to-its-neighbors/
It seems it will hurt minorities the most. Again, using Venezuela as a current guide, all the wealthy people left. Columbia, USA, Panama has seen a large influx of wealthy Venezuelans. The jobs they created are gone , the taxes they paid are gone, the businesses they left after being taken over by the government are gone.
The only people left in Venezuela are the poor and indigent and man are they hungry.

....but Maduro doesn't look like he's missed a meal........just sayin'
