Would Jesus Support War?

I'm quite sure God (and Jesus) hates man warring with each other. But isn't it just possible God also understands that when you or your loved ones' lives are threatened God would honor your right to defend yourself? I'm quite certain if any of you had the opportunity to defend yourself from someone wanting to inflict harm on you, you would use even lethal means to do so, and not turn the other cheek. Shouldn’t the same apply to defending a nation?

Chuck Norris column saying Jesus would support ALL war. He supports Huckabee.
WorldNetDaily: Would Jesus support war?

Question: "What does the Bible say about war?"

Answer:
Many people make the mistake of believing the Bible says, “You shall not kill,” and seek to apply this command to war. However, the Bible actually says, “You shall not murder” (Exodus 20:13). The Hebrew word literally means “the intentional, premeditated killing of another person with malice.” God often ordered the Israelites to go to war with other nations (1 Samuel 15:3; Joshua 4:13). God ordered the death penalty for numerous crimes (Exodus 21:12; 21:15; 22:19; Leviticus 20:11). So, God is not against killing in all circumstances, but rather only murder.

ok, good, then he really doesn't need mine.
He never said He did...

Tithing is to express faith, not the nonsense you guys "who don't tithe" preach. Why tithe or think God would want you to tithe when 1. you don't believe and 2. you don't respect God?

3. Why does tithing bother non-tithers? That always cracks me up...

pfft

why does god need a starship?

er, .... money?

edit: and it is not gods money .... it's mine .... if he wants it he can work 50 hours a week for it.

God doesn't need us or our money. But what He wants is for us to give unto others, to be less selfish with what we have, to learn the principle of giving as a virtue. That is part of the process of conforming us to His image. God wants us to give cheerfully, not reluctantly, but He also wants us to know the value of giving even when we don't particularly feel like it.

I was just responding to Camily who said that my money, was in fact, gods money.

Personally, I could care less what church goers do with their money. When I went I always put in some money .... certainly not 10% as my rent at the time took a considerable amount of my money.

Let me tell you all, god has nothing on insurance and renters.

selfish my ass. I worked for it. If I was walking by some plate of free cookies that said 'take one' and took 5 or 6 then that would be selfish. Spending money on myself and my friends and family that I go out and earn isn't selfish.

People that tithe and believe know what I meant. I was saying that all we have is a gift from God. We have nothing without Him. God will always provide for us if we trust in Him. It's amazing! Just like 2A's milk miracle.

Fred, I can't find the verse I'm looking for. The one about people being more important than sparrows (I think) and He provides for them. Help me out here.

Will I do?
Matthew 10:28-30

28"Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

29"Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.

30"But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

31"So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.

32"Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.

33"But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.

I found that one, but isn't there one about how God provides for them, so of course He will provide for us?

And yes, you'll do. Thanks!

Ah. Not sparrows but birds.

Matthew 6:25-34

25"For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

26"Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?

27"And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?

28"And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,

29yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.

30"But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!

31"Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?'

32"For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

33"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

34"So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
