The mean-girl sorority rant read round the world has taken a somewhat predictable turn, with Delta Gamma president Rebecca Martinson “resigning” from her sorority Wednesday because of her profanity-laced, media-frenzy inducing email.

The email the girl sent was abnoxious and filled with more cuss words than I have heard my husband say in 14 yrs..and the man was in the Navy for 20!

I was a sorority chick, but times have, obviously, changed. I am old, but never saw an outburst like this chicky! This is not the norm. Please, everyone, do not judge this crazy gal, to view the pledging of a group. As, a rule, they are very philanthropic, very active on campus, take away a life time of memories, and continue on through reunions, etc. My sorority was founded in 1867; if that gives you an idea of how long sororities/fraternities have been around.

Somebody with the backbone to be who they really are. No false facades, no fake smiles.. this is who she is.

She's no different than any other girl in her sorority, she was just brave enough to put it in words and not hide behind some bull#### community service projecr.

Are you a member of a college fraternity, or were you social with sorority girls in college? If not, you have no room to judge. I don't usually mess with you, but you have it wrong. She is a mental case, and, is in no way representative of what sororities, and fraternities stand for. Have you been there, done that? If not, you have no room to judge this situation. I have been there; I am a member of a sorority. There was no community service involved. She was talking about a 'social' that her sisters should not attend, unless they would be gaga over Sigma Nu. The whole thing was nauseating, and she deserves to be living under the mansion rock she has now found to live under. Yes, she is a bitch, and not a representative of the fraternal college order.

So what's the acceptance criteria into a sorority or fraternity (other than an Academic organization)?

GPA? What's the minimum??

Community Service? Is there a minimum number of hours or money one has to donate to make the cut?

OR is it PURELY popularity, who you are, where you came from, what you can provide to the sorority/ fraternity?

Apparently the fraternity she is talking about is where the most popular guys are at. The football team captain maybe, or all the rich socialite future heirs? It's the high end mating game, how DARE a sorority sister date below her class. She's just telling her sisters that they have a reputation to uphold and how DARE they be caught with a fraternity brother beneath their stature.

I was in a student organization, and we worked/volunteered beside the sorority/ fraternity members. Most (which means NOT all) were spoiled brats that hadn't had to work for anything in their lives. Mommy and Daddy were paying their tuition, AND the fees associated with being in the Greek House.

The only thing mental about this girl is she was stupid enough to put it in writing.

I went to a large college, and I was glad to have a small group that I could be a part of. My sorority does a lot of philanthropic work, and I have a lot of "sisters" as life long friends. Most frats and soros have sister/brother frats/soros that they do things with; Sigma Nu is probably the brother frat to Delta Gamma. Not all frat/soros are brats, snobs, or whatever is being said here. I worked in the summers and paid my sorority housing fee myself. Many frats and soros have been around since the 1800's (mine included). I don't think the Greek system would have survived this long if it was just a bunch of spoiled, rich brats and bitches. JMO
