John 19:38 Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away. 39 He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds. 40 Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs. 41 At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. 42 Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

Here's the link to the commentary I read.

Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly: In this final step of the earthly work of Jesus before His resurrection, the Son of God remained passive. God raised up two previously secret disciples (Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus) to receive the body of Jesus and give it the best burial they could in the short time they had before sundown and the start of Sabbath (Luke 23:54).
Asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: Customarily, the bodies of crucified criminals were left on their crosses to rot or be eaten by wild animals. But the Jews wanted no such horror displayed during the Passover season, and Romans were known to grant the corpses of executed men to friends or relatives for proper burial.

Bound it in strips of linen with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury: Joseph and Nicodemus did what they could to wrap the body of Jesus with the myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds Nicodemus brought. Before the body was wrapped it had to be prepared. One of the customs of the Jews in preparing a body for burial is the requirement to remove all foreign matter from the body and to carefully wash it.
The garden tomb in which no one had yet been laid: Matthew 27:60 tells us that this tomb belonged to Joseph of Arimathea himself. A rich man like Joseph would probably have a tomb that was carved into solid rock; this tomb was in a garden near the place of crucifixion.

Can you lift 75 pounds?

Could you put on a 75-pound coat and move a boulder the size required to cover a whole big enough for a human to enter?

Can you move a boulder big enough to cover a whole big enough for a human to enter?

Could you do it with a heavy weight sealed around your whole body?

Jesus could have commanded the boulder to roll and it would roll to wherever Jesus wanted it to roll to.

I don't think Jesus walked through solid rock while He was teaching. Do you think He could have?

John doesn't mention an armed Roman Guard being ordered to stand watch at the tomb.

I wonder if John just didn't notice in his personal grief. I wonder if John figured the Roman Guard would be "expected".

Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus wrapped Jesus' body in linen strips soaked in herbs. They wrapped Him like a mummy and laid a cloth over His head. They rolled a boulder over the entrance so no animals would get Him. They left Him there.... alone... in a dark hole.

Any ordinary human would be considered wrapped and trapped.

Wrapped and trapped.... sounds like a good title to me!

Wrapped and trapped!
