Wifes brother was in a wreck with a buddy who was dui when they were teens, he told us that kid had fled the scene and was hiding out and was going to tune up about 10 hours later..... was going to sat he fled the scene in a panicked daze.

If it was truly the vehicle owner, how long do you think it will take police to find out place of residence, place of employment, known associates, etc. Once those places are checked and people are interviewed, where else would you run in a "panicked haze" if not just to run away for a particular reason?
