The Potomac River Association (PRA) and the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) invite writers of all ages to compete for the second annual Jansson Prize for Environmental Writing. This year’s contest asks writers to describe what plan they would put into effect to restore the Chesapeake Bay to health.
“We wanted a topic that writers could have fun with,” said PRA President Robert Elwood, “but we are interested to see where people focus their priorities—on the agricultural sector, on shoreline development, on stormwater control? It will give us some insight into how citizens perceive the problem and its solutions. Ultimately, it is a writing contest so we will be most attentive to the quality and clarity of the prose.”
Deadline for entries is Dec. 1, 2011. Details can be found at Potomac River Association.
