WTF is wrong here?

Gah....

All these 'lost' and 'found' dogs.

I lived in major cities with more people in their immediate metros by far than in all of SOMD south of PG. RARELY saw loose dogs. Here? All the flipping time.

WTF do people think this is OK? Why do they think their dog getting out under/ over/ through the fence, out the gate, out the front door, wandering off when they let them out without a leash, is OK? Jeebus flippin' pancakes. And it isn't just the long time locals that have ALWAYS let their dogs roam, because 30 years ago that was OK.... It's people who just move here, people here ten years... I've never lived anywhere with near as many dogs left in yards or tied up as here. I've never seen so many lost / loose dogs.

If your dog digs out, don't leave him in the yard.

If you don't have a fence, don't let her out without a leash.

No, a tieout or cable run is NOT cruel if you are not leaving your dog on it 24/7 but only to for short periods because you don't have a fence...

How about this one? Dog get loose because some kid opened the gate? Well, try not leaving the dog untended behind an unlocked friggin' gate!

People take better care with keeping their TV's and X Boxes secure for cripes sake... and they are far more easily replaced, and tend not to get rabies or hit by cars or taken to the pound...

WTF is wrong with people?!?!

OK. I'm done.

Thanks for letting me rant.

I think the increased number of "lost" dogs directly correlates to the economy. The worse the economy gets the higher number of dogs and cats abandoned, set-free, etc.

Well we thought someone made a drop off last night out front, as a car stopped, open and shut its doors and then took off. People know I do rescue (I think) so they drop them off now and then. Luckily when hubby went to check they just dumped their drinks...An odd place to do it, but better that then an animal.

Very peevie! when they do.

Drop offs--

Well I do live in an area where there are A LOT of drop offs....mostly hounds and esp. beagles. My vet and another neighbor both told be beagles are dispensible and are a dime a dozen so when they are thru (too old to hunt or dont hunt the way they want them to) they just dump them or leave them on a hunt then drive away. We have picked up cute friendly young pups and very old mistreated old lady dogs (prob. used to breed then dumped) and everything inbetween. It's really sick and almost makes me want to move. I NEVER saw this where I grew up.

Is this a lost dog thread?

Or a cooking advice thread?

'Cause I'm thinking about the coming holiday meal and could use some good new ideas. :yum:
