About Crippled Cat Ranch

Located in NW Kansas, Crippled Cat Ranch is approximately 45 miles south of the Kansas/Nebraska border and 150 miles east of the Kansas/Colorado border. Cindy's dad bought her first horse as a Christmas present in 1965, and his friends said "When she gets to high school, the boys will be more important and she will lose interest in the horse". Well, that was 42 years ago, and the horses are still here!! Many horses have come and gone and have contributed to the breeding program we have today.

Along with horses also came "barn cats". Momma cats have babies, and they are always underfoot and get too tame and unafraid of the vehicles. One day John was looking around at all the gimpy cats (that got run over by the truck but not mortally wounded) and stated "This looks more like a crippled cat ranch than a horse ranch" and the name stuck." We still have one of the original crippled cats, but she's a house cat now. Besides the horses and cats, we raise commercial meat goats (Boer Cross), a flock of chickens, a flock of peafowl, ducks, 1 guinea, and 6 dogs. We stay busy!! And do full time off the farm jobs!!

We strive to breed a horse that not only is pretty to look at, but is easy to work with, willing to learn and easy to train. We breed with emphasis on the "foundation" quarter horse blood lines as we feel these horses are what we are trying to produce - ones that look good and can do anything. Our stallions are linebred Poco Bueno with touches of other great stallions and mares, and our mares have the bloodlines of some of the popular bloodlines in the reining and cutting arenas.

Thank you for stopping by our website and hope that you enjoyed your visit. Please feel welcome to visit us at Crippled Cat Ranch, Glade, Kansas, give us a call or drop us a line for more information.

Hah, I'd personally never admit that or go to the lengths of naming my farm after a bunch of crippled anythings.
