My 11 yr old came home from school today saying that some of her "friends" said I was racist because I wouldn't let her come to their birthday parties.

What is wrong with these kids nowadays!

Does your child know the reason you said no?....... Kids will be kids

Does it really matter?
YES! she does know the reason. However, you know people believe and hear only what they want. I don't really care what they think...I was just shocked at their reasoning. :1bdz:

My kids are out of school now, but a similiar thing happened to me as well. Kids are using that term alot now. If you punish them, or dont let them talk on the phone, go to freinds houses, etc, that makes you a racist. Keep being a parent and dont give in to that crap.

Thank you for giving me more of a reason to stay with my dog and to not settle down and have kids! I would have been beaten and grounded for saying things like that to my parents!

:geek: why does it always have to be the parents fault??? Why couldn't there be a more legit reason as to why her kid cant go?

like being racist? :lmao:

i dunno, i just always wonder when a parent won't let their kid go to a bunch of birthday parties. at least, that's what seems to be described here. maybe the parental supervision isn't good enough, or the parent wasn't invited and wants to supervise?

In this case it was two parties and one had to do with the fact that my daughter visits her dad every other weekend in Virginia and scheduling was bad. The other one was because the little girl that invited my daughter has never been anything but mean to her! Why would I send my daughter to that one!? Neither time did it have to do with the color of their skin.

and trust me...my kid goes to her fair share of bday parties.

Kids will be kids but it is aggrivating. If your daughter knows why and really understands what the word means and how rediculous it is for them to say it then that is all that matters.

If I took my daughter to every party we'd be broke, LOL. I've only allowed her to go the parties of her closest friends - which is about 4 kids.
