It was a car accident on St. Mary's side of the bridge. I really didn't hear all the details. sorry

it was a three car accident with what looked like an SUV flipped on its side. it looked like someone pulled out of that road where that shelter is on the st. mary's side of the bridge. it looked really bad. hope everyone is ok... :frown:

Yellow Ford pickup severe right front damage, van or large suv laying on it's side next to the Ford. About 50' away there was a small (small now) silver car with the front end pushed back to the windshield. I don't know how anyone could survive in that one. They did a good job of letting the traffic through but it was still a long wait.

I was stuck in traffic for 30mins or so. Alcohol was a factor, not to mention the driver and passenger who caused the accident fled the scene. A bystander and a DC police officer chased them down until authorities arrived...

I don't mind traffic too bad. What gets me is why there is traffic. People want to stop or slow down to see the wreckage. Well, that's ok, I get it. Curiousity, fine.
What I can't stand is 30 minutes after the crash and the authorities have moved the wreckage off the road. The tow trucks have started to pick it up. Now people still want to slow down to see this! Come on!
Good thing I had my Quiznos to eat during my wait!!!

The motorist was operating with a Mexican drivers license and his immigration status is unknown at this time. :smack:

The motorist who was stopped to make a left turn said that there have been four wrecks at the intersection due to the SHA failing to paint lines on the road to provide for a left turn lane.

Where is this? I can't think of anywhere on that stretch that doesn't have an adequate left turn lane. :confused:
