WWYD, re: primary care physicians?

Our family has seen various Shah Associates doctors since forever. HOwever, I am recently beginning to second-guess our choices:

Kids see a ped w/Shah Associates. Facility is crappy, they are next to impossible to get ahold of. BUT love the ped.

DH & I see a PCP at the Bean Ctr. Next to impossible to get an appt. DH was in ER all day Saturday w/chest pain, and told to follow up with PCP today. Call - rudely informed that she is booked/double booked FOUR TIMES and basically has not hope in hell of following up with her any time soon. Yes, he needs to see a cardiologist also, but needs to see PCP re: another issues diagnosed at the ER.

I guess it's when something serious happens that you really challenge the responsiveness of your health care providers. So, I guess I"m asking - is this normal? Or is it only normal for the Shah Associates? Is it time to go see someone else?

Good Luck. Try Dr. Boyd in Leonardtown. Great personality and makes room for you.

We've been going to Nurse Practioner Kimberly Chitko in Leonardtown. She is in a practice that has just joined Medstar, they use to be under Chesapeake Family Health Care. The Doctors in the practice are Dr. Schmidt and Dr. Lee.

I can't say enough about Kimberly Chitko, she is wonderful.

They are located on Merchants Lane in Leonardtown.

Good luck!

Pretty sure Kimberley Chitko has moved out of the area. Dr. Schmidt is with Marie Tartleton in Leonardtown. Dr Lee is with St. Clements Medical Care off of Moakley.

But bothe are great practices. I recommend both.

I see Dr.Federlie at Shah. He's pretty good and has always referred me to specialists when needed. The GI A Shah and N Shah have always seemed good. They have also referred me to specialists up at Gtown when needed. My wife/kids go to a female Ped/PC in the building. My wife likes her very much. I really can't complain about them.

I just moved to the area and I was told the same regarding the Shahs. Basically told to go anywhere else.

I'm bad with names, so pardon, but one of the Drs (lady) left St. Clements and I believed joined with Dr. Schmidt and Marie Tarleton - they might be practicing as a women's medical specialists? Other then the fact they may not accept "families", I would reccommend them as well as St. Clements.
In other words, give them a call to see if their practice is limited.

I have had dealings with various "Shah" practices and have been less then impressed. Also met someone who use to work for them and they were not impressed (polite term) with the way they conducted business.

Kimberly Chitko is back in the area, I just saw her last week! And Marie Tarleton is no longer with the practice. Dr. Lee has joined Medstar along with Dr. Schmidt. I believe she goes to Dr. Schmidt's office 1 day a week, while keeping her office on Moakley.

You may want to check it out yourself, like I said, I was there last week and saw Kimberly Chitko.

Marie left, I don't know why, but she isn't there any longer. Dr. Schmidt and Kimberly Chitko have just joined MedStar. I believe Dr. Lee is with them as well. Put it this way, Dr. Schmidt and Dr. Lee were named on my prescription, and I was told Dr. Lee comes to Dr. Schmidt's office one day a week. Their offices are in the same location as before. And they do women's wellness as well as family care.

FYI - St. Clements is now MEDSTAR. Same doctors (for now) but under the ubrella of the new owners of St. Mary's Hospital. Basically they are now the anti-Shah enterprise.

Ok, should have answered your questions....
No it's not normal...98% of all doctors should leave room on their schedules for call-in's if they don't then they're not worth going to.
I would stay very, very far away from the Shahs' any and all...
It is normal for them to always be overbooked. I once used them myself ( the one located in Leonardtown in the brown building across from Ryken, and the one in the Charlotte hall for my kids. Stay away from them!
