The Maryland Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) announces that Wynne Briscoe has been appointed director for the Southern Maryland regional office. The Southern Region SBDC at CSM provides free, confidential business consulting and low-cost business training to aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners in Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s counties.
Briscoe previously served as SBDC business, management, technology and manufacturing consultant. She has received numerous awards in recognition of her exemplary performance and commitment to small businesses. Most recently, the 2017 Maryland Governor’s Citation in Recognizing Small, Minority and Women-Owned Businesses; the 2019 America’s SBDC Maryland State Star; and the 2019 St. Mary’s County Commissioners’ Small Business Proclamation.
Briscoe is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, minor in Business with a concentration in Business Law. She has more 30 years of entrepreneurship and business ownership experience to include retail, professional services, technology and manufacturing. Since 2001, Briscoe has successfully consulted and advised entrepreneurs, businesses, and non-profit organizations. She is known for her creativity and innovation in the development of new businesses by offering in-depth experience and assisting them from concept to profitability to exit strategy.
Briscoe said she has a passion to work with young entrepreneurs and enjoys coaching and mentoring youth toward success, while helping them realize business ownership and self-employment as a viable career option. She is also highly engaged in the Southern Maryland community and the Maryland Small Business Eco-System.
