X-Men: The Last Stand

I am very excited to see this one. I thought the first film was a well-made, if flawed superhero action drama. Then, the sequel absolutely blew me away - it the perfect mix of character-based emotional drama and incredible, special effects-filled action sequences. I am a bit disappointed the director of the first two, Bryan Singer, left the franchise because he got the chance to direct his dream project, Superman Returns (out June 30th). But the new director, Brett Ratner (The Family Man, Red Dragon, Rush Hour), should do a fine job and the great cast members, including Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Ian McKellen, etc., seems to all have returned. This is the last X-Men film (though there are planned spin-offs, one for Magneto and another for Wolverine) and it seems to be a great (exciting) finale. I'll definitely be going to see it in theatres.

Oddly enough, I was just thinking that the title suggested this was the last X-Men movie. :bawl: But I was also thinking, wouldn't it be great if they just made a movie featuring Wolverine. I didn't know they already had plans for that. Too cool. I would suggest a story about Logan (Wolverine) and his Japanese girlfriend, Mariko, and have it set in Japan. Wouldn't that be awesome? Seeing Wolverine kick a** some hot shot Ninjas?

What?!
Normally I don't care for these types of movies, I but LOVE the X-Men movies and can't wait for this one to come out!! :yahoo:

I saw this last night and was disappointed. It's watchable because of the thrilling action sequences and incredible special effects (the Golden Gate Bridge sequence!), but I didn't find the characters and plot too involving. It wasn't as emotional and edge-of-your-seat gripping as X2. More just an average, forgettable bit of fancy summer film fluff.

I thought the movie was good. It introduced and developed more characters. I think X3 was more of a buildup for a 4th movie.

Except, apparently, 20th Century Fox isn't going to do a fourth X-Men film, opting instead to do Magneto and Wolverine spin-off films unrelated to the main franchise's narrative. This was supposed to be the hard-hitting, powerful conclusion (think The Lord Of The Rings: The Return of the King or even The Matrix: Revolutions) to the main X-Men storyline and I thought it was a resounding failure as such. It was just a watchable 106 minute special effects extravaganza - not an unforgettable end to one of the biggest and most popular cinematic storylines of the 21st century thus far.

By the way, is it just me or has summer 2006 really blown so far? Besides the incredibly entertaining Mission: Impossible III (sure to be one of the year's better films), all the "blockbusters" have been fairly disappointing - Poseidon was a soggy Titanic wannabe after the exciting five-minutes-long rogue wave sequence, The Da Vinci Code turned a snappy mystery novel into a long-winded, self-important snoozer, and X-Men: The Last Stand has failed to really be anything more than a showcase for some computer techies and a fight choreographer. Hopefully, the upcoming blockbusters (Superman Returns, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Lady In The Water, Miami Vice, World Trade Center, etc.) turn things around and are excellent films.

I'm sure Fox will eventually work on a 4th X-men movie. I would think they are just trying to trying to make more mutant movies just like the comics spawned off many new series.

As far as summer movies, you are right. They haven't had big blockbuster summers for movies in a long time. Does anyone remember when opening day for movies would pull in 100+ million dollars?

Weren't any of you mad about Scott? Or Rogue giving up her powers..
I didn't like that at all.

The worst was seeing Jean Grey come back fromt he dead, only to kill Scott and The Doc then get rekilled by Logan, who loved he so much..

Grr! I liked it but I didn't like what happened. :ohwell:

Hopefully in the next one, Rogue will find a way to regain her powers and maybe Xavier will return in some sort of spiritual link with Storm( I LOVE Pathrick Stewart)
AND... I would like to see a plot twist that had a mysterious love child that Jean Grey sent away who also happens to be a class 5.

Awww, karma guy!! I'm sorry.... I figured anyone who had a real interest in it would have seen it by now....:blushing:

Did you see the part after the credits? Apparently, Moira hears Xavier voice back at the island. Now, if you remember the lecture that Xavier was giving his students just before Storm starts playing with the weather, Xavier discusses the possibility of transplanting one's mind into a brain-dead person in order to sustain one's life.

So Xavier is alive somewhere and Scott's body was never found.

Holy Cow!
I was already out the door by then... :ohwell:

I guess I had a good idea then... I didn't see how there was any way they'd let Xavier just be killed off..

What do you think that will do in the next movie(hopefully)??
If Xavier comes back in Scott's body, will that mean possibly that Jean(whom I think is sooooo important to the story) could come back?
I really wanted Jean to end up with Logan.

Oooh, I'm excited all ready....
But why no Gambit?? Truth is, in the comics books, Rogue was waaaay older then Bobby.

Bobby Drake and Warren Worthington III were also part of the original X-men.

Wolverine is supposed to have his own movie in the making. X4 still has lots of potential though. There are sooo many characters to work with now. I do remember Gambit's real name was mentioned on the the previous movies. I'm sure they'll have Xavier, Scott and Jean back though.

Now keep in mind I haven't seen this yet, but am dying to...

Professor X is an incredibly powerful telekinetic. He could easily have whisked himself and Cyclops anywhere he wanted to. And as far as Jean Grey goes, in the comic books anyway, she came back as The Phoenix. If they want to bring her back, they could simply kill the Phoneix , setting her free again or something.

And as a punch line, as long as Wolverine lives, X Men continues.:yay: I love Wolverine.

Oh yeah, I read an article with Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) the other day online, where he said his wife likes him to wear his Wolverine 'getup" (pun intended! LOL) in the bedroom....and they both get a big 'thrill' out of it....whew!...what a lucky chick....

That is what I am doing to myself for leaving before the credits rolled. I saw it on Saturday night with my darling hubby. I LOVED it.

I thought this movie rocked the body that rocks the party.

WTF happened to Nightcrawler? Did he go back to the circus or something?

I would have liked to have seen some other XMen who didn't make the cut. Gambit, Psylocke and Emma Frost for instance. (I think that one brotherhood girl was Psylocke, but I'm not sure) There was an acceptable amount of Beast in the movie and I'm glad they emphasized his character more than his mutation.

I would have like to have seen Blob as well. I thought that big fat guy at the brotherhood meeting was Blob, until he made himself thin. Most definitely not Blob.

I'm glad that Iceman became ICEMAN even if it was only for about 5 seconds. I would have liked to have seen him skating on his on-the-fly ice floes too, but I guess we can't have it all. Cool confrontation between him and Pyro.

Not enough Collosis. And as far I can tell, he didn't sound Russian : but that fits with everyone else who were Middle-Americanized for the movies.

Juggernaut rocked. But if I remember correctly, he wasn't a mutant in the comics. Just a big badass ( I think his brother was a mutant though, or something like that ).

Angel went absolutely nowhere. Why was he even in this movie?

Did I see Toad creeping along a wall for just a second there?

All in all - wicked cool movie.

OMG:lmao: Why not just break out the robot or the worm there Tox? Going a little old school on us:lol:

When my kiddo heard him speak, she yelled out,"OMG mom! That's Frasier!"

Do you still watch Spiderman and His Amazing Friends? I always loved that cartoon.

I agree, it was like filler so they could have another scene to flip to. I imagine he and his Dad will have an expanded roll in the next movie, showing his father coming to terms with his mutation and accepting mutants as a part of life.
