Little ol' Me
My son has XBox 360 and got the live card for Christmas.
I have a wireless router can he connect up that way or does it have to be hard wired.

Ay advice, I have never hooked a video game system to the internet before..

TIA

You can do it either way. Obviously wired will get you better performance, but if you have wireless dead spots in your house you can kill 2 birds with one stone by buying 2 netgear WG602V3 wireless access points. Set them up in wireless bridging mode. You can connect the Xbox up to one of the access points. The other plugs into your existing router, it sucks that you can't use your existing wireless router for this, but this works really well. The additional access point will also act as a repeater to extend your wireless network range. Sounds complicated, but it's really easy and for about 70 dollars (cost of the 2 access points) you can connect the xbox and extend your wireless network.

Just my 2 cents.

dont forget you need a the wireless connectivity piece for the xbox. It plus into the back of the xbox and has an antenae (sp?)- they are, i believe ~90-100$, plus the cost of access points from linksys, dlink, netgear etc. It would be cheaper (if thats what you are looking for) to run an ethernet cable. I prefer wireless, but thats just me.

If you think you will use the Netflix ability on the Xbox360, you might want to go with a wired connection. I have mine wired as of now. I did not think 99.00 for wireless on the system was worth it since I can wire it up.

I bought the 99 dollar wireless adapter for my 360 and I have no issues with it at all.

I'm guessing that it needs to be the xbox thingie that's seen in the picture on the website Radio provided? That's as opposed to any old wireless adapter?

The wireless adapter is the way to go. A bit pricey at $100, but I love Xbox Live. I definitely think the Netflix "Watch Instantly" streaming on the 360 is awesome - yes, it doesn't have every movie, but it has a lot. It's basically a souped-up "On Demand" that is constantly improving.

ok so I went the route of using and ethernet cable plugged into his laptop, which said I had to download Windows Media Center extender which keeps coming up in error when I try to do this, I have changed my firewall settings and still won't work.

Any thoughts or am I better of calling XBox

You dont hook the 360 to the laptop silly!

You hook the 360 into your router or modem (where ever you get internet)
The laptop shouldnt be hooked to anything to get the 360 to work with the laptop.

I had my 360 running and turned on my machine. After the desktop loaded it said it found the 360 and asked if I would like to add it as an extender. I clicked it and then I was dont setup and ready to use the 360 to get onto the laptop.

Who ever said Vista was hard to use is an idiot.
