Both Sirius (saw one at BJ's last night comes with a boom box, home and car kit)and XM (Roady 2)both sell models now that have the FM Modulator built into the satellite receiver. All you need is power and the antenna hook up and you're in business. No more boxes in the trunk or under hte seat, and they are smaller then the origanl recievers, about cigarette box size.mizzle said:Does anybody have this? My question is..... Why do people pay the mothly fee just to transmitt the single back into FM?? Why not get the correct tuners and recievers for better quality sound?

mizzle said:I want it mostly for the sports information and the music is secondary so I SIRIUS or XM will work for me, this is also why I dont care about the sound quality, Im upgrading from FM so as long as there is no static I am happy.
Magnum said:From what I have dealt with a while back FM modulators do not work well with all vehicles so take caution. Engine noise, fan harmonics, there is alot of interference that hit those modulators. I put a TV/DVD system in my cousins truck with a modulator and had horrible noise from the cooling fan, tried re-grounding, tried everything. Changed brand of modulator and it worked fine.
Well, XM you get reception EVERYWHERE (except in LONG tunnels), The station you pick only has the kind of music you like or COMEDY.. or sports.. and using the FM Modulator, you are still getting sound as good as your stereo can produce. OR you can by the stereos with the built in XM Receivers and no modulation, OR use a Cassette adaptor (be my LAST choice)Magnum said:SO people go for what they hear not how good it sounds? Guess It's all in what you like. It would be nice for the Bluegrass station.
I used to run my truck in stereo competitions and I always go for Quality. I put a system in my magnum that rattled the whole car and I stripped everything out because I didn't like the sound, everyone thought I was crazy, they all said it sounded good.

The cassette means more wires, more clutter on your dash.. freinds of mine each bought the Roady 2 when they first came out and have been real heppy with them, am expecting to find a Roady 2 under my tree this year, or an Alpine XM ready receiver.mizzle said:I read that the cassette gives you the best connection.

But are O & A or Howard (once he leaves public airwaves) available on Sirius, or just XM?Ponytail said:I'm going Sirius myself. $500.00 lifetime membership. No more monthy bills. I can handle that. And after 8 years, if they don't re-new the NFL contract, so what, I've still got my money out of it.
And the equipment for Sirius seems so much simpler and much more user friendly and versatile.
