Yeah. This should probably be in Science and Space ...

Yeah. This should probably be in Science and Space category. However, until impact, just let the video play in the background while you navigate the rest of the forums, or the internet. The music is quite ethereal and very calming.

As an aside, anyone think such a small man made object hitting this massive rock in space is really going to alter its course?

The same people who think we have a greater impact on the climate than the sun.

Yes I do. It doesn't have to be much if you can do it a long ways out.

Tell you what. When you leave home, face 1 degree off course, see how far you make it. :)

I was thinking, what if was alter this rocks course, it causes it to hit a bigger rock in 50 years or so and alters that rocks course right toward us.

Or we alter its course and it heads to a malevolent alien species like the Borg and it pisses them off.

I think there is a problem with your math. 100 miles = 528,000' x 3.1416 x 2 = 1,658,764.8' / 360 = 4,607.68' / 60 = 76.8' per minute of arc at 100 miles.
What’s this part for? It’ll probably hit me as soon as I hit done, but may as display my ignorance now.

That’s right and I can see the error also, change feet to yards and the math works.

Nope still wrong
? confused ? How is it wrong? 100 miles, 5280 feet a mile (528,000), x Pi (3.1416) x 2 gives you the circumference. Divide the circumference by 360 then divide that by 60 to get the arc minute.
