Yearly Review

Well today I'm supposed to have my yearly review so I gues in a little while I'll be real happy or I'll be on here looking for a new job. They are going to have to make me a good offer to make me happy and keep me here. I mean the job is fine but driving to Rockville and Leesburg is getting old real fast.

Gee whiz, Rockville from St Mary's? That's a haul, no matter how much one likes one's job.

Good luck!

I would not want your drive into work everyday!
Oh I hate it. Well just got out of my review. I have to ponder on the situation to see if I am going to be happy or not. They gave me just over a 7% raise, I told the boss that wasn't enough and I want a car allowance as well. So he is checking into it. Driving here killed the Value of my Magnum, 22,000 miles in 5 months. I have started driving my little car for work but the damage has been done to the other car. So he is going to check but it's not looking good.

7% is pretty good, nowadays....consider moving, maybe? Not that I'd move back up to Rockville for anything, but....

Don't take this the wrong way, but if you're given a car allowance, then everyone will want one. Obviously, you took this job for a reason(s), no? It sucks having to commute (I do from Mechanicsville to Arlington) but I would never even consider asking my employee for extra money because I choose to live where I do and commute. However, if this is a new job description for you (totally unaware to the fact you would be commuting upon acceptance of job) then I could see them forking out a bit more for your expenses. At any rate, good luck.

Well I know 7% is good, last year I got 15%. The thing is the type of work I have been doing. The work I do I should have the title to go with it, but to me titles mean nothing... Except the benifits to go with them, like what I'm looking for a car allowance. They said they would change my title because it's only fair but theh boss was not sure if he could give me the allowance on top of my raise which is stupid. If I'm doing the work of a person that should receive these perks then I feel I should be entitled to them

Thanks, but the thing is a car allowance for the position description is typicall. The couldn't give me one before because my title would not allow it, now I can get the title but not the allowance  something just seems funny to me.

What do you do that gives out min 7% and max 15% raises?

I just got my review and like most years, its around 3%. Now I make damn good money, and don't complain about the 3% which should put me close to 80 this year. I'm also happy to have a job these days the way inflation is going. But 7%.. shoot.. quit your #####in'

Commute? You made the choice not them. :spank: I did it for yrs till I had a big change in my life and got a few offers I couldn't refuse. Now I live and work up here in the DC area.
Still love St. Mary's and visiting tho.
