It'll be a long two years of construction.

All the money pissed away on the light-rail planning should be spent on a busway from Brandywine to the metro. That would actually have a meaningful ridership as the commuter buses from outlying areas can use it.

Waste of money, all they have to do on 210 is change the frequency of the light cycles/changes. Freaking idiots, they have refused to do so for as long as I've lived here, but now instead lets waste a bunch of $$$ so we can look like we do something good, smh

I live right off of 210 near accokeek, I take 210 north every day to work (about this time) but dont take it on my way home (3pm) I jump on oxin hill road from the casino and take it all the way down as far as possible before getting back onto 210, those lights are ridiculous up near the beltway

Lights, no lights will make little difference. Everybody being in a rush does make a difference. Driving down the shoulder, using turn lanes as straightaways, etc.

And let's not forget all the special people who are apparently exempt, firefighter tags, Leo tag, Leo sticker, fop tag, bus tag and even the maple leaf crew.

the modifications have been in the master plan since the 1970s ...
... I wish I could find my copy, I snagged a copy from a pile at the Oxon Hill Library in 1975 ... I thought the maps were neat

I've said for years they need to build a elevated subway extension all the way down Rt 5 to Waldorf.

why not ?

I've always thought a monorail or maglev between DC and the base would be terrific, running right down the center of 5 and 235, until you think about who will be riding the train from DC to our neck of the woods. Then it's not such an appealing idea.

which is why the 'well to do' did not want the DC Subway in Georgetown ...
... they didn't want some thug getting on a train in SE DC and getting off in Georgetown
... but that 70's mentality is way past its sell by date in 2016
