EITM was discussing Yes this morning. Do you think they were great? Good but overrated? Sucked?

Elliott said they sucked. I say they definitely sounded better than his stupid laugh.

They were great musicians, and they did some things with rhythm that I really liked.

I guess this is showing my age. :ohwell:

I can only ever tolerate the beginning of just that one song only to hear the part "for the queen to use do-do-do-do-do" and then I have to turn them off.

They were very innovative with their music, seemed to be a sign of the times back then. Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Electric Light Orchestra, Kansas, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa...

Of course, I was a teen and in the "experimental stage"

Love 'em, and saw them several times. Especially like their earlier material, Close to the Edge being my fave of theirs. They all had great individual talents, but to me Jon Anderson's voice is what makes them fabulous. He always seemed to be the one get them through their internal conflicts and back in focus, as well.

Overrated? Maybe, to many. But one of my favorite bands of the 70s. :yay:
