Yesterday ...

Nanny Pam

************
My girlfriend (and her hubby) called to ask my hubby & I to take their Lab to the vet to be "put to sleep." :bawl: She haden't moved at all since 7:30 am yesterday. Anita called me at 9:00. She was sobbing.

They were so ill because of grief, there was no way they could do it. They knew that Shelby would go with me because she knows me from her play dates with Jake & Woody, plus we all play Pinochle together.

I stayed with her the whole time ....just talking to her, petting her, and wishing the vet would hurry the eff up and end her pain. She had cancer.

She had her favorite snuggle toy between her paws as she drew her last breath.

She will be cremated.

Right now her big brown eyes are shining with happiness again, as she plays with all the other animals there. She will wait at the Rainbow Bridge for Marvin & Anita to go and get her.

R.I.P Shelby girl! You will be missed. :bawl:

XOXOXOXOX from Jake & Woody.

Oh my God, how sad. Hardest thing there is to do. Bless you for being such a good friend. R.I.P. Shelby. Thoughts are with her family.

You are an amazing person to do that for a friend. What a gift to give Shelby and your friends. It is one of the hardest things to do. My husband took my 19 year old kitty when it was his time. I am still grateful that he did that for me.

My heart aches to hear that. I had to put down my beloved pets within the last couple of years and can still cry at the drop of a hat for them. They were major parts of our family, much more than just pets. It's the hardest thing to do as pet owners, but I do think that we will meet again at the Rainbow Bridge. God Bless you and your friends. :bawl: I wish you Peace.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Doesn't the Rainbow Bridge sound like a wonderful place? Thats where I want to go when I check out. Shelby will have lots of friends to play with. Bailey and Cheyanne will welcome her and keep her company.
