You should search the Wash. Post archives, about a year ago they did an interesting article titled something like, "The party is winding down in St. Mary's". It's all about the bad old days, when there were lots more drive-thru windows, you could get Go-cups, and slots were everywhere. Even includes a picture of the Green Door that made is look somewhat classy. The magic of photography. :lmao:

Party's Winding Down in St. Mary's (washingtonpost.com)

Twenty years ago, St. Mary's had more liquor licenses per capita than anywhere else in Maryland, according to a grand jury investigation, and the highest percentage of driving deaths caused by alcohol.
The county had one liquor license for about every 300 people. At the same time in Montgomery County, it was more like one for more than 1,100 -- and Montgomery didn't allow what the St. Mary's grand jury called the "local innovation," the go-cup.

Party's Winding Down in St. Mary's (washingtonpost.com)
Washington Post said:
By 7 o'clock, the Monday-night scene was in full swing: A college student with a mohawk pushed through the door for the $5 pizza-and-pitcher special. A woman with white curls laughed with other locals at the bar, and in the back, a skinny guy in a cheap dress threw darts.
I seriously think I know the person this sentence is referring to.

Come on..... around here that you are talking about is Lexington Park, you also left out drugs, robbing and other assorted crime. There are other things to do but you don't see it, you know that's not true.

Tell me, no show me that there used to be more liquor stores and bars because its kind of shocking. In a 2 mile stretch there are 13 establishments you can purchase alcohol just on Great Mills rd.

Milison Plaza next to Big Lots
Cerro Grande
The new Indian resturant
New Discount Liquor next to Rose's
Rose's
another new Discount Liquor behind Papa John's a few doors down from Rose's
Hal's liquor on Willow's Rd.
Canopy Liquors
Liquor store in St. Mary's Square
Cadillac Jack's
International Beverage
Stop n Shop
The Liquor store at the end of Great Mills Rd. across from Sheetz

DID I MISS ANY?
NOT all of theses places are on GREAT MILLS ROAD!!!
You are from Pa., right? Have you ever been to Pittsburgh? Count the liquor selling establishments on any main road, oh, like Brownsville Road and get back to me.

Every town, city, county has their bad sections. GREAT MILLS ROAD in Lexington Park just happens to be ours. If it gets cleaned up like you WHINNERS want, I can only hope the move to your neighborhood. Because they will not go away, just move to another location.

You people that Whine and Biocth about this place can just leave. I liked this place just fine before you deiced to decent upon us, bringing your juvenile delinquent kids and criminal adult children. You have managed to just con-jest our traffic, upped our traffic fatalities and increased our homeless and crime rate considerably.

WHINNERS GO HOME!!!!!!!!

I have no problem with the crime rate in Great Mills / Lexington Park. Far as I am concerned, it could be higher. Of course, I don't live there. GM / LP can continue to keep their criminals out of my area.
Ok, I will say this one last time.

GREAT MILLS ROAD IN LEXINGTON PARK, NOT GREAT MILLS

Ya beat me to it, here's a few more
21. Two Thieves
22. Phone Booth
23. Brass A$$
24. The Zoo
25. Shangri La (liquor store and bar)
Oh the great old 70's. What a blast this place was then. Since you were here too obviously, the crime rate was about 5% of what it is now? Do you agree?

Nah, I would say that the crime rate was probably about the same. We just hear about more of it now since the internet, before all we had was the Beacon and Enterprise.
