Halsey Wears Shirt That Says 'F--k Your Straight Pride' at London Show
The front of the singer’s shirt displayed a photo of a lesbian couple that was assaulted in the same area of London last month.
Halsey often speaks up for the LGBTQ community, one that she is proudly a part of as a bisexual woman. Whether she’s calling out homophobic behavior or writing messages of support to her fans, the star has always proudly claimed her space as a queer woman.
On Monday night (June 10), Halsey continued that tradition of outspokenness during her intimate show at London’s Electric Ballroom. The singer took to the stage wearing a T-shirt bearing a photo of a gay couple who were assaulted in London just a few days prior. The back of her shirt read, “**** Your Straight Pride.”
The couple displayed on her shirt are Melania Geyamont and her girlfriend Chris, a couple who claimed that they were beaten on a London bus by a group of young men. According to a
Facebook post from Geymonat, the group of at least four men began demanding that she and her girlfriend kiss for them on the night of May 30, and allegedly began beating both of them when they refused. Since the incident, five teenage boys have been arrested in connection with what the London police are calling the “homophobic attack,” according to
The New York Times.
