Yorkie found in Waldorf

My husband and I found a yorkie today running down the middle of the road on the road behind Home Depot. It was on the side near the apartments. We stopped and picked it up and went to the apartments to ask if anyone knew who it belonged to. The people there said it had been running around for a few days and they didnt know who's it was. It was a cute little dog estimated to be around 10 years old. It had a pink collar on but it also seemed to have a few health problems. It's ears had bad infection and it had some sort of growth on its back near where it's tail should be. I don't know why anyone would let their dog get in that bad of a shape without just giving it to the Humane Society and giving them a chance to take care of it and try to find it a loving home. Anyway, we took it to the Charles County Humane Society and if you are the owner of this dog, thats where you can get it. I would suggest though that if you go back to get it, you get it the veterinary care that it needs. It really was a precious and friendly little dog.

Thanks. I hope the vet can fix it up and I figured even if they can't, euthanization would be alot better than the poor little thing getting hit by a car. It almost did get hit, I'm so glad we found it. If I could afford it I would have kept her. She was very sweet. We put her on the back seat of the truck and she just laid there and rode. She was a people friendly dog and never tried to run from my husband or anything. She didn't bite or make any noise all the way down the road.

I called the Humane Society today to check on the yorkie and find out if the vet had seen it and what they said about it's condition. The owners loved the doggy enough to come pick her up and take her home. I hope they get her some vet care but I am glad that she was loved and missed

Found a little piglet at the Smallwood Drive/301 intersection in Waldorf about a year and a half ago. It had fallen out of a livestock truck that I could see up the road. Had to chase it out into the intersection before I snatched it up by his hind legs (oink oink oink). Carried it back to truck with no clue what to do with it. Held it out of the window by the side view mirror and went to Humane Society but no one was home so took it to the emergency pet care place up the street and some girl fell in love with it and claimed that she would take it to her farm.

Dang man! That is a nasty intersection! Glad you didn't get hurt.

As scary as it sounds, I would have like to have seen that, good job!

It was funny. It was small enough that I could grip it with my hand and not fear dropping it. It was a Kodak moment for sure.

Twice when I was driving down Richie Marlboro Rd I saw little animals coming out of the woods that I thought were puppies.

The first I thought was a cute doggy as it peeked out from the woods onto the road and looked both ways then I said to myself whose dog is that and what long legs and odd color. Turned out it was a fawn.

The second time I saw something that looked like a baby bull dog it was white and black speckled and so cute. Came out of the woods sniffing for food I assume. I then remembered the fawn and I am still not sure what that thing that I saw was. :twitch:

I like animals and would help one too but if they're coming out of the woods NO HAPS they will have to wait for the next car or continue surviving solo.

So to everyone who went above and beyond to save an animal. :flowers: Well done. :yay:
