You can do it Obie…

You have got to be kidding me.... I swear, I have always thought that a majority (not all) but the majority of those people who do rescue and work with rescue groups are bat shiat crazy.

Now something like this comes up and it just confirms my attitude...

Dog fight: Obie, dieting dachshund turned media star, is now the center of a custody battle - NY Daily News

So now that Obie has become somewhat famous, the dog rescue group wants him back. They can try and dress up their bull crap with legal jargon but basically that is the way I see it.

I'm happy the Courts decided to let her keep him. He looks so much better.

Agree and Nora (the lady who has him) is very experienced with animals, in fact, more so than those who were trying to take him back at the rescue group. She has really changed Obie's life. He goes to all sorts of events and has play dates with other dogs. He just looks so happy. He was, at one time, thought to be the fattest dog in the world.

Little update on Obie, https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...393.1073741849.352732954803907&type=1&theater

He has lost a great deal of weight and had surgery to remove excess skin today.

It really has been cute seeing Obie go from such an overweight dog that could barely get around but wanting to... to being able to get around and enjoy playing. The transformation has been incredible.

He weighs in at 37lbs and 4oz today. The extra skin likely only weighs a few pounds and his ideal weight is probably around 28 to 30 pounds.

How could someone allow this dog to get so fat? I cannot believe the dog is able to walk!

How could someone allow this dog to get so fat? I cannot believe the dog is able to walk!

A groomer friend of mine was "given" a puggle that couldn't walk. He was too fat, the owner's would carry him inside and outside and he just kept gaining weight. They thought he was sick. He was, due to their over feeding and carrying him everywhere. It took her quite awhile but she would make him get in a deep kiddie pool and she would hold him in a sling while he paddled and she cut his food down. He can now walk but will always have potty issues from it.

Great Job Obie and his caretaker!
