You Know You've Turned Into a Mom When...

You automatically double-knot everything you tie.

You find yourself humming the Barney song as you do the dishes.

You hear a baby cry in the grocery store, and you start to gently sway back and forth, back and forth. However, your children are at school!

You actually start to like the smell of strained carrots mixed with applesauce.

You weep through the scene in Dumbo when his mom is taken away, not to mention what Bambi does to you.

You get soooo into crafts you contemplate writing a book called 101 Fun Crafts to do with Dryer Lint and Eggshells.

You spend a half hour searching for your sunglasses only to have your teenager say, "Mom, why don't you wear the ones you pushed up on your head?"

You are out for a nice romantic meal with your husband, enjoying some real adult conversation, when suddenly you realize that you've reached over and started to cut up his steak!

Ok, who does this?

If I have to make a sudden stop, I extend my right arm over the chest of my passenger in the front seat. Well, I do that whether I have a passenger or not.

My mom STILL does this and she's in her upper 60's. Once a mom, always a mom.

My mom did that to me a few years ago and knocked the wind out of me! "Old habits" she said

When I was in the hospital with my second child, I found that I had a TV all to myself. I got to decide what was on. I found myself watching "Clifford the Big Red Dog" without realizing it.

You know your a parent when you find yourself saying things to your kids that your parents said to you. It just comes out.

Like my dad's famous saying "if you do that again, I'm going to knock you into the middle of next week." Also, "Don't make me pull this car over,” which sucked when he did a few times. Another one, “I’m going to spank you so hard, you won’t be able to sit for a week.” He would make me go get the belt, which I thought was worse than the spanking. I’d pick the smallest and skinniest one in the closet and he would say that it wasn’t big enough. I’d cry harder going down the hallway to get another belt, just one size up from the one I just gave him. We did this all night. When I got to be about 15, I just said "hurry up, get it over with." That was the last time I got spanked.

My mother use to say "if you don't pick up your toys, I will throw them in the trash." I say this one just about every day and actually enforced it twice.

Me: I hope when you grow up, you have a daughter who's JUST like you!

Daughter: Well, if I do, I won't treat her like you treat me!

My Mom: :killingme

:yeahthat: only this was my Mom. It really sucked when she did it on the side of a major highway with all the cars going by at 75mph.
